VET BI Report August 2019

August’s Totally VET Activity Report from VET BI

New RTOs

There were 12 shiny new RTOs minted last month.

  • 5 in New South Wales
  • 3 in Queensland
  • 1 in Victoria
  • 3 in Western Australia

You can see who and where they are on VET BI.

Change to RTO Type

Only one RTO changed is type in August

  • 20738 Pinnacle Institute of Education changed from an industry association to a private provider.
You can keep a track of changes or find out more here.

Restrictions

There were 18 restrictions were added in August (and none removed). This included 6 actions to de-register RTOs entirely and 2 scope limitations.

There were also 5 cases where the provider has been given two years to continue to operate and retain record, pending review at some time. We speculate that these are providers who appear to be doing a good job of training, but are failing in their record-keeping and are being given a period of review to demonstrate process improvements.

See who’s on the list here.

RTOs who have changed their scope

There were 670 training components added to scope in August by a total of 199 providers. This appears to be the tail of the uptake of recent changes to several packages, most notably the PUA Public Safety package, RII Resources package and BSB Business packages.

You can drill down to the details with VET BI, or set your watch list to notify you when a competitor in your regions of interest adds an item to scope in a category you are interested in.

Changes in RTO Funding Contracts

Most of the activity in August was in the ACT. A major reduction in the range of courses covered by Skilled Capital funding in August resulted in 45 fewer providers being registered for funding in ACT, but 10 new providers added. The new list is tightly focused on only 16 courses in the areas of community services, nursing and cyber-security. This is much smaller than the previous list from Feb 2019 which included 107 courses from a wider range of subject areas.

Queensland and the other states/territories had a typical month for turnover of funded providers.

Here is the complete list for you to review and keep an eye on.
