VET BI Report December 2020 – Business as usual leading up to the holiday period

Welcome to the December 2020 issue of the VET BI report.

New RTOs registrations and other activity were back to a normal levels this month. One RTO suspended but others given second chances, as are most these days.

New RTOs

There were 9 new RTO registrations again this month, with 7 of them in NSW! Will they change the NSW number plates to “The No-Lockdown State”?

NSW (7)
45657 Resilience NSW (Safety)
45658 Ironbark Training (Broad Scope)
45660 Meditech Training College Pty Ltd (Welfare)
45659 HCR Training (Building)

Requirement to retain detailed records
40794 Australian Study Link Institute (Melbourne CBD and Inner Suburbs)
41280 Unico Education Pty Ltd (Sydney Western Suburbs, Welfare)

Training component changes

The automotive services package got a major update, and mix of further updates in construction and other areas.

Qualification Changes

Note that the numbers here are not just the count of qualifications but the count of units changed within those qualifications, including every unit (including possible electives) within a new qualification replacing an old ones, so the figures appear inflated compared to previous reports but are more representative of relative volume of change.

A major overhaul for the business, construction, agriculture and forestry sectors: Business (2091), Building (1025), Agriculture (512), Forestry (164).
There were a large number of changes in other areas too – December must be the time for training package (re)writing. Better check our scope too as there are too may to list.

Skill Sets
Food production and processing had a big month for skill set updates: Agriculture (19), Meat (12), Forestry (5).

Accredited Courses
A focus on business and employment courses this month: Training (14), Business (11), Welfare (8).

Unit Content

A large and wide range of units were updated in December: Business (669), Equipment (665), Building (659), Forestry (407), Agriculture (394), Demolition (140), First Aid (111), Plumbing (97), Safety (72).

Again it might be worth checking your units on TGA as the list is too long this month!

Funding changes

Very few new government funding contract were signed in December:

TAS
3094 gotafe (Broad Scope)
3046 RMIT University (Broad Scope)

NSW
91533 Step Into Training Services (Broad Scope)

Two RTOs suspended this month – have ASQA found their good knife set again?
