VET BI Report February 2021 – Full RTO restriction history made public

Welcome to the February 2021 issue of the VET BI report.

TGA now includes a history of Restrictions. Plastics and First Aid get an overhaul this month.

New RTOs

There were 3 new RTO registrations, all in Queensland.

QLD (3)
45671 JB Quinn Pty Ltd (Equipment)
45672 Icobea Pty Ltd (Business)
45673 Australian International Islamic College Ltd (Sport)

Restrictions

This month there was a change in the way restrictions are shown on TGA. They have tidied up the format so they are much more readable. More importantly, the full history of restrictions will be logged and available on TGA so that anyone can see the history of restrictions being imposed and removed. We don’t expect that the past history will be recovered, so it might only show events from this month onwards.

Training component changes

Many packages had at least a few significant changes, but the stand-out was Plastics with pretty much everything changed!

Qualification Changes
Again, there was a broad range of updates this month was lead by: Plastics (268), Financial Services (185), Business (171), Rail (91), Safety (72), Technology (66), Civil Construction (61), Local Government (46), Agriculture (34), Auto Service (30). On top of that, 8 more categories had at least 10 qualifications change, so better check those on your scope for updates again this month!

Skill Sets
There were relatively few skill set updates this month including: Food and Beverage (17), Local Government (8), Defence (4)

Accredited Courses
Again there was a broad range of changes across the packages lead by: Foundation Skills (25), Training (23), Business (13), Religion (11), Welfare (9), Indigenous (8), Language (8), Performing Arts (8), First Aid (7).

Unit Content
As usual, the inclusion of counts for units moving in and out of qualifications means that unit change volumes follow the qualification changes. This month saw the notable exception of First Aid which had a major update, even though it includes only a few qualifications. First Aid units are all replaced with “not quite equivalent” units, which may mean non-automatic scope updates.

Funding changes

A few new government funding contracts were added in February.
